Today we had a family photo session.  (Thank you Pink Pineapple.)

Our last photo session was prior to the pandemic. Big was 4-yr and sported a black eye from falling at the playground.  I am happy to report we had no unexpected color on anyone’s face, so already we were off to a promising start.  The weather was downright beautiful, and we caught the beginning of the foliage color change in Central Park.  Dad, Big, and Little were all in grand moods and cooperative. I’ll call it a win!

As a reward, we let the kids choose dinner, and they quickly landed on sushi.

We decided to try Fushimi in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. True to the description in Google Maps, the restaurant gave off a Las Vegas vibe, complete with plenty of colored lights, mirrored surfaces, an entertaining path to the bathroom, and a cavernous setting.  (These days, cavernous setting is not necessarily a bad thing, as it easily accommodates social distancing.) The footprint of this restaurant can easily accommodate very large groups.

A notable highlight was the cauliflower steak.  It was perfectly seared and topped with sugar snap peas.  The sushi was fresh, and the rolls were of a size that were fairly easy to consume in two bites.  Bonus points awarded for soy paper being available.  I often prefer soy paper to nori. I find the flavor of nori to be a bit overpowering, and it is sometimes challenging to bite through.

All-in-all, a good ending to a good day.
